SLK 320 Brake Pad Installation
The following demonstrates how to install front brake pads on an SLK 320.
If you have an SLK32 AMG Click Here.
If you want to do the rear brakes Click Here.
I used EBC pads for their low dust and strong stopping power. I regret ever using EBC pads.
In 3000 miles they managed to ruin my brake rotors by causing them to warp!
This happened on two of my cars!
I have since replaced the rotors and now use Porterfield pads. The difference is dramatic and
I now recommend Porterfield pads. Get them through MyRoadster Net.
DO NOT USE EBC PADS!

Above is a general overview of the front brakes. This is the right side.

Step 1: Unplug the brake wear sensor and unbolt the receptor/connector with a T-40 torx.
Then remove the sensor from the inner brake pad.

Step 2: Remove the caps that cover the caliper bolts (blue arrow). They come off toward the car (red arrow).

Step 3: Once the caps are off you can remove the bolts with a 7mm hex.

These are the bolts that are completely loosened. Take the out of the caliper.

Step 4: In the outside of the caliper, remove the anti-rattle clip.

Step 5: Remove the caliper by pulling it forward (to the front of the car).
Be careful not to put too much tension on the brake line.

Step 5: Remove the pads and squeeze the caliper piston until it is seated.
I have a tool for this as pictured.
It is best to open the brake fluid cap in the engine compartment to make this easy.

Step 6: Apply high temperature brake grease to the piston as shown.
You will also want to apply grease to the outside pad where it contacts the caliper.
This is shown below.

Step 7: Re-assemble is the reverse order. Note the T-40 bolt from the sensor receptor needs Loctite.
Before driving the car, depress the brake pedal slowly several times to seat the pads.
Be gentle on the brakes for the first 100-200 miles.
