Drying the car:

Drying the car is a critical step. I recommend the following items:

1. At least two 100% cotton towels about 2' x 2'.

2. A California Water Blade.

3. Optional - An air compressor.

You can substitute a chamois for the towels. I personally prefer towels.

The California Water Blade is a silicone squeegie (sp?). It will allow you to remove 90% of the water fast.

Make sure there is no dirt on the blade.

Just start at the top and push off as much water as you can. Work your way down.

Once the majority of the water is off, begin using one of the towels to dry the car. Start at the top.

Once you have completed the outer surfaces go for a drive around the block. This will make water come out of the seams and dry the wheels.

Now do the inner surfaces. Start at the trunk then go to the doors. Anywhere you see water, get it!

Now dry the wheels.

The engine bay is often neglected. A fair amount of water sits around in there. By drying the engine bay everytime you wash the car, you can maintain a very clean engine. Just wipe everything down (obviously make sure the engine is off).

Nice job!! You are done!

You can use an air compressor to blow air in the spaces you can't reach if you like. I often use my compressor especially before a polish/wax because I do not want any residual water anywhere.
