C-Pillar damage caused by top contact with the trunk interior

Damage can occur to the C-Pillar in either side of the top if there is contact inside the trunk when the top is down.

The photo below demonstrates such damage.

The contact occurs inside the trunk. The photo below shows the point of contact.

Solutions to this problem vary. Some have polished the area with little success. Some heated the area with a hair dryer in order

to depress the plastic contact area. The idea is to displace the plastic far enough downward so that no contact can occur with the

top. Another solution is to place felt at this contact area. Some have put a washer under the bump stop to effectively keep the

roof higher in the trunk. You can also consider having the trunk liner replaced by your dealer.
