Valentine One Radar Locator Installation in the SLK
Note: This installation includes the optional concealed display.

Phillips screw driver, pliers and wire cutters Optional: Telephone wire kit to make custom length wire for the V1 This set of pics show the visibility of the V1 installed in the car. Also is a pic of the wire connectors used. |

Left adapter is included with the V1 for (+) lead.
Right adapter used for (-) lead. These are crimp type adapters requiring no cutting or splicing of original wiring. |

| Top Panel Removal:
1. Remove the sun visors (4 screws total). 2. Remove the two screws under the interior light lens. 3. Slide top panel to the back of the car. Be careful not to jerk the wires by a sudden release of the panel. |

| Wiring:
Simply tap the wires for the garage door remote (Homelink). They are already black and red. |

| Pull the A-pillar cover off to the right. It will pop right off. | ||||||||

| Run the concealed display wire up the pillar. | ||||||||

| Push the cover back on to the pillar. | ||||||||
| Below is the completed project. Note that the concealed display is in good view for the driver. Also note that no modifications were made to the car, this is 100% reversible. | ||||||||

| I am a very mechanical person. I have performed extensive automotive work in the past. This particular job is very simple. A novice could likely perform this work. I, of course, cannot judge your level of skill, so you must judge for yourself if this is something you can perform.
As the system is set up here, I have had no problem with any function of the car including the homelink transmitter. Note that the unit can be easily removed by you and by thieves. Personally, I thought the V1 is the only way to go. The locator alone is one of the best features. It is nice to know where to look when the detector goes off. It can also tell you the number of radar sources so you'll know if there is a new source when driving by a familar area that generally sends false signals. I have since switched to a Passport SR1. |
